The history of Castiglione is closely tied to the history of Capri from the same period of Imperial Rome to Capri in 2000.
Over the centuries the castle has undergone numerous and radical restructuring from Charles of Anjou, in 1283, convinced of the strategic importance of the island, it reinforced the defensive structures entrusted to the castle which had the task of ensuring that stretch of sea between Capri and the Punta Campanella.
This building, however, has played a central role in managing political and military Capri under the various domains and kingdoms.
Many are incidents of battles, of historical facts, or simple administrative affairs that the symbols register as a place of temporal power.
In the first decades of the castle and the chapel, also transformed into powder, were used by British garrisons during the war against Murat French troops.
The work of restoration of the castle was entrusted all'ingegneria Roberto Adiolfi who rebuilt freely in the form today, used as a private residence.
